What is Strategic Planning?

Strategic Planning is big picture planning. It helps you to set objectives, define short and long-term goals and plan how to achieve them.

How does it work?

The Strategic Planning management practice is delivered using three convenient tools:

One-to-one support

An advisor, with expertise in your industry, will get to know you and your business personally, in order to understand how to help you to develop a strategic plan that suits your business aspirations.

Throughout The Improvement Programme you can arrange up to four visits from your advisor at times that suit you. You can discuss your challenges, ask advice and form your plan in confidence with consistent professional support.

The Strategic Planning workshop

A one-day workshop is also provided to demonstrate:

	How to develop a flexible strategic plan that works for you.
	How to develop your vision and objectives as a basis for your strategic plan.

It also helps you to:

	Create a clear process for reviewing and updating your strategic plan.
	Have practical ideas for involving your people to gain their commitment.

The workshops are successful because they give you the space to work on your business for a day and think openly, creatively and strategically, without distraction. You can also network and ‘compare notes’ with other businesses in your region, which can give you an extra level of peer support.
