PSIF
What is PSIF?
The Public Service Improvement Framework (PSIF) is a holistic model based on an approach of driving continuous improvement for the organisation, based on the principles of Best Value.
PSIF is the outcome of the joint development activities of West Lothian Council, Quality Scotland, and Investors in People Scotland in conjunction with The Improvement Service (the partnership), to deliver a framework that incorporates self-assessment techniques aligned with the European Foundation Excellence Model (EFQM) and other frameworks such as the Investors in People Standard and Customer Service Excellence (formerly known as Charter Mark)..
What does PSIF do?
PSIF is an amalgamation of criteria from several business improvement frameworks including EFQM, Investors in People Standard, and Customer Service Excellence and integrates the assessment approaches delivered by these frameworks, thus minimising duplication and increasing efficiency in the review of service areas. The model allows this assessment for improvement to be conducted in a consistent and coordinated way.
Based on the expanded principles of the West Lothian Assessment Model including the use of an ‘e-readiness’ electronic self-diagnostic tool, will identify the organisation’s status, and through the PSIF process, what subsequent improvements will be required.
How will PSIF be implemented?
The roll-out of PSIF started with the launch event at the EICC on 26th September 2006. Phase 1 will be a pilot of the model involving selection of four organisations based on an assessment of readiness and then approval to proceed authorised by the PSIF Board. The organisations involved will require to provide resources for training and implementation of the model with support from the PSIF partnership.
