Profile
What Is It?
The Profile tool is a framework of good practice that provides further stretch for organisations. It does this by going beyond the current scope of the Investors in People Standard into broader areas of people management and development.
It is based on the same three principles as the Standard’s Plan, Do, Review and also offers the opportunity to benchmark performance against other organisations.
Profile is open both to recognised and non-recognised Investor in People organisations
You can download a PDF of the Overview of the Profile Framework by clicking here.
Benefits
Profile adds value in a number of ways:
| It helps you to identify areas of relative strength and areas for further development, through | |
| measuring your performance in detail according to four levels of good practice. | |
| It broadens horizons into new areas of good practice in people management and development, | |
| taking an increasingly holistic approach to making the organisation a great place to work. | |
| It challenges you to continuously improve your approach to people management and | |
| development, by setting a high bar at Level 4. Virtually all organisations will have scope to improve in at least some areas. | |
| It looks at how deeply embedded good practice has become within the organisation, and | |
| measures the progress in translating commitment and strategy into culture and everyday practice. | |
| It offers you an opportunity to benchmark your performance across the range of people | |
| management and development activities by comparing your organisation’s achievement to averages for other leading employers. | |
| It helps you to focus on achieving your vision, through better planning for the future and tighter | |
| integration with your business strategy. |
What Does It Involve?
Profile journey:
As with the Standard, the principles are underpinned by 10 indicators of good practice, each with a central theme. Each indicator is supported by a number of evidence requirements at four levels of good practice.
The scope and content of Profile level 1 is exactly the same as the Standard, whereas the scope of Profile levels 2 – 4 will provide a greater depth and breadth based on the indicator theme.
Organisations can be assessed against individual or grouped indicator themes as an alternative to using the whole model.
For each indicator, a level of good practice has been identified as follows:
| Level 1 | |
| Represents an organisation meeting the Standard and demonstrating good practice. | |
| Level 2 | |
| Represents an organisation exceeding the requirements of the Standard by achieving at least 50% of level 2 and 3 statements in addition to level 1 requirements. | |
| Level 3 | |
| represents an organisation significantly exceeding the requirements of the Standard by achieving 100% of level 2 and 3 statements in addition to level 1 requirements. | |
| Level 4 | |
| Will represent an organisation demonstrating excellent practice by achieving all of the level 4 requirements along with levels 1 – 3. |
