Book an Assessment
The assessment is an important part of your Investors in People journey. It provides validation of your hard work as well as useful and constructive insights on areas of development and improvement.
When should I book an assessment?
Once you have decided to work with the IIP framework you can embark upon assessment at any time. The ethos of Investors in People is to encourage a continuous step-by-step, developmental approach to assessment. This continuous assessment approach allows you to see improvement and quantify progress towards achieving accreditation throughout the assessment process, through to the goal of recognition and beyond. The feedback from the Specialist who carries out your assessment is intended to add value at all times.
If you are unsure whether assessment is right for you at the moment, an Advisor can provide impartial advice to assist you. For organisations considering assessment for the first time, you can download a copy of our free publication "A Guide to First Time Assessment."
The Assessment Process
To go ahead with an assessment you must fully complete an assessment form. If you have already been in contact with your Local Enterprise Company then they may arrange this for you, otherwise you should return the form directly to Investors in People Scotland.
Based on the information on the form, the Specialist will provide an estimated cost and timescale. He or she will then contact to agree an on-site date for Assessment and establish if there are specific areas of objectives which you would like to focus on.
At the end of the on-site date, the Specialist will provide you with verbal feedback and inform you of the recommendation that will be made to the recognition panel who will decide the outcome of the assessment based on the Specialist's report and comments.
If the outcome is positive you will receive a congratulations letter, Investor in People plaque and certificate to mark your recognised status. However if the Specialist felt that more evidence was required to meet all the criteria of the framework, then the report will be sent to Investors in People Scotland for interval verification and sent directly to you and your Advisor. Another on-site visit would be arranged at a later date after all development points had been addressed.
For those organisations who have reached the end of their three years of accreditation and are being reassessed ("reviewed"), if they do not meet the agreed criteria then the organisation will enter "retaining recognition" and have 12 months to improve or be derecognised and lose Investors in People recognition.
